Canonical have launched the Ubuntu App Developer platform with guides, tutorials and other resources to help them create apps specifically for the Linux OS, or to port other apps to the platform. No registration and No fees. are required.

Ubuntu is a computer operating system based on the Debian GNU/Linux distribution and distributed as free and open source software. It is named after the Southern African philosophy of Ubuntu (“humanity towards others”).
