Online ads hit revenue record
September 27th, 2006Internet advertising, once written off as a dream that died with the dot-coms, is proving to be a juggernaut. Online ads for the first half of 2006 climbed 37 percent to nearly $8 billion, a new record, the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers said Monday.
The trend is driven both by the simple text ads that appear on search engines like that run by Google Inc. and by new capabilities offered by technology and the rapid adoption of high-speed Internet connections.
