Classified Ads Lead Police to Stolen Motorcycle

January 18th, 2006

A classified ad for a brand new motorcycle led a customer to call police Tuesday afternoon. A 2006 Kawasaki that would usually go for up to $10,000 was being advertised for $300.

When police pulled up to the address given to them by the seller, that man took off on the bike. He led them to a home on the 12000 block of Command Post Road, near O’Connor and Wurzbach Parkway.

Another man living in that neighborhood, Michael Kopecky, told News 4 WOAI, “[I] just heard a motorcycle hauling up the street, ran outside, had one car after another cop car come up, and all of the sudden they’re pulling rifles and pistols and pointing it at that house over there.” He pointed across the street to 12431 Command Post.

Police said the man barricaded himself inside the house with his girlfriend. He threatened to police that he would kill her and them turn the gun on himself.

Ten minutes later, the man walked outside and police took the couple into custody. Investigators say the Kawasaki was stolen on New Year’s Eve from an apartment building on the North side.
